We have just returned from a week at the Abbey hotel in Puerto Vallarta..It is located in Zona Romantica (old town) and less than 2 blocks from the glorious Banderas Bay....Has a large pool and hot tub..a restaurant and bar and helpful front desk clerks. Amenities are not luxurious, but clean and modest... Curtis and Larry, San Francisco more

I did a lot of reading on the inernet when planning my stay in Vallarta - lots of the gay, and gay friendly hotels looked good, but something about The Abbey (maybe its' top ranking on Trip Advisor) caught my eye. I emailed a few people on here who had stayed, and all had good reports, so not seeing any... more

I orginally booked another hotel and checked into it on arriving in PV. However, I was so disappointed with it that on my way back from the beach I stopped at the Abbey to see what they had available. The front desk was great and let me view a couple of rooms. I immediately took a room with a balcony... more

I've been to PVR 4 or 5 times, and I love it. I prefer staying in the old town or Romantic Zone, as it is called. This neighborhood is wonderful, with cobblestone streets, tons of great restaurants and feels very safe and friendly. The Abbey is a couple of blocks from the beach - a very short walk. Upon arrival,... more

My partner and I just returned from a one week stay at the Abbey Hotel in PV, and as our previous two visits, we found the hotel to be a consistently pleasurable experience. I am not one to recommend or review a hotel based on my first experience or second experience, and in this case, after our third stay at... more

My partner and I just got back from our most recent visit to PV. We decided to stay at the Abbey because of the great reviews on this site. Our visit definitely did not disappoint. The staff was helpful and the price for the suite was a bargain! Luis was especially helpful and friendly. We've stayed in various hotel and... more

We had made the mistake of making internet reservations at the Mercurio for a 5 day-4 night stay in Puerto Vallarta. After the first night, we walked to the Abbey Hotel in hopes that a room might be available. This was during Thanksgiving weekend, and there were events going on that made finding a another, better hotel a concern. We... more

This is the 2nd year in a row we've spent Thanksgiving at the Abbey, and I can't wait to return again. The Manager (Luis) is someone I consider a part of my family now, and it's always comforting knowing he is around to take care of us and make our stay as pleasant as possible. The location is fantastic, the... more

This is the second year I've stayed at the Abbey and I have to say there is no better place I can imagine going! The staff is amazing, the rooms are big and it's right in the middle of "gay Vallarta"! I would recommend to anyone who wants an amazing visit to PV for a pretty reasonable rate per night.... more

This was like staying with an old friend. The views are breathtaking, the rooms are really quite adequate, spotlessly clean, and comfortable. There is no possible way the staff could have been more accommodating - amazed by the service, and I am fairly well traveled. You have enough people at the hotel to make new friends, but everything is arranged... more
