Grand XCaret was truly an amazing hotel. I went there last February with my boyfriend and two other couples. When you enter the main lobby, you realize how magnificent Xcaret is. Not only is the resort huge, but its also beautiful. The first room we received was far, far away from everyone else, in a dark and secluded area. You... more

I just returned from one week at the Occidental Grand Xcaret in Playa Del Carmen. where I traveled with my husband and 3 children ages 16, 13 and 9. The resort is absolutely beautiful and kept spotlessly clean. The pools are wonderful; the beach is ok..it's really a cove carved out of the coral reef the hotel is built on,... more

How can you possibly ruin perfect weather, the company of wonderful Mexican people and good food? Answer: by providing inept management, unprofessional and inexperienced service. This resort could be terrific but for a lack of common sense. Guest services need to call to find out everything when they should have a solid understanding of tour pricing, distances from the hotel... more

We stayed at the hotel for one week. We rated the hotel a 4 out of 5, but not without problems. The hotel premises, facilities, and rooms are clean. The grounds are well kept and appear to be well maintained. However, the rooms and walkways around the grounds are dark and lack sufficient lighting. The food was great when we... more

First let me say that the food, drinks and service was great. In fact it was exceptional compared to other all inclusive resorts. The rooms were nice and clean. The beach was a little small and if wanted to reserve a chair or bed you had to do it early. But the pools made up for that small deficiency by... more

When we got to the hotel, it looked very nice from just outside the lobby, so i was happy for that. Then when we were checking the front desk guy was clueless and couldn't figure out how to get me and my mom a 2 double beds instead of a king, especially when the resort was at about 50% occupancy.... more

There is really nothing positive to say about the OGX - we arrived on Friday afternoon. My daughter got food poisoning from the Beach Buffet on Saturday. By Sunday morning we were in an ambulance on the way to the hospital (after paying the hotel doctor $200 cash to check her). Stayed in the hospital for 24 hours - the... more

We flew from Calgary to Cancun Dec.14-21/08 De-icing put us 1 hour behind. Our fight with Air Transat wen't very well. At Cancun , it was quick getting on our bus and to the resort[about 1 1/2 hours ] . Check-in went quick even with the info they told us about the resort. The staff brought our bags to our... more

To say this was the worst vacation I have taken is an understatement. I frankly don't know where to begin but if you read no further know this: unless you are looking to show your spouse or significant other how bad of a vacation planner you are, stay far away from this place. Our family is pretty well traveled, prefers... more

Dec 21 2008 Me and my family was playing water volleyball at 3pm with Scott and Lori and 3 more people whom name I can not remember. My husband cut his big and middle toe when he crosses a rusty drain in front of the volley ball net. When he got out of the pool he said “I cut my... more
